I think that I have my twin or something. That's so funny. When I was there in WDW, I didn't see any hostess and you're were at Disneyland, you didn't see any of the hostess. I'm not complaining, I did it too. I would go before work or after work to play in the park. Lately thing have turn for the worse working at Disneyland. They are firing employees left and right and now they don't have much people on staff. Pretty soon they're going on strike. But I'm glad that I left but I miss it there so terribly. <br /> <br />Ha ha ha! <br /> <br />We BOTH risked out butt to go on rides when we worked for the Disney amusement park. I wanted to be a marine biologist and you worked at Sea World. Crazy ! It's like I'm in the twilight zone or something. Literally, get abuse.</td> </tr> </table> <span class="postbody"> <br /> <br />Actually... *evil laugh* I used to use my lunch break to go on rides all the time, particularly at Disney-MGM Studios and Animal Kingdom (both of which were really laid-back). <img src="images/smiles/icon_lol.gif" alt="Laughing" border="0" /> Technically weren't supposed to, but it was really easy as a character to throw street clothes on over our "basics" and run out for a ride or two. At DAK, it was often watching Tarzan Rocks, or a ride on Primeval Whirl or Dinosaur. I even got in Kilimanjaro Safaris once. At Disney-MGM Studios, I tended to go play DDR on my lunch. <img src="images/smiles/icon_lol.gif" alt="Laughing" border="0" /> And it's not just limited to out-of-costume. As Muppets at the Studios once, we got bored at an early morning set and went into the Pizza Planet arcade. The game attendant gave us a crapload of tokens to go play games with the kids. Played DDR (dang, that's hard in Miss Piggy! <img src="images/smiles/icon_lol.gif" alt="Laughing" border="0" />) and air hockey (we let the kids win... which is a lot easier said than done!) with the kids for the whole set. <img src="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" border="0" /> And once at the Magic Kingdom, we ditched our set to go on the Teacups in costume as the Tweedles. <img src="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" border="0" /> Bottom line: no, you technically <span style="font-style: italic">can't</span> go on rides... but if you're willing to risk it... <img src="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" border="0" /> <br /> <br />There were management-sanctioned rides, though. First thing in the morning, the Pooh characters would go on Winnie the Pooh with the first family in line. The last set of the evening in Toontown, Goofy would go on the Barnstormer with a family. If Pluto kissed up to the Toontown manager, he could usually go too. <img src="images/smiles/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" border="0" /> Aladdin, Jasmine, and Genie used to ride the Magic Carpets a lot in the morning, too. There is an extra premium for show shifts or face shifts. <br /> <br />As far as our thoughts go - personally, I loved it when adults came up! Especially if they were the "big kid" kind of adult. They were fun! <img src="images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Very Happy" border="0" /> There's a lot of jerks out there too, though. And the characters DO notice them. We try as best we can to "ignore" the jerks to get them to leave (especially if they're ruining the experience for other guests!) but there's only so much you can do without your greeter stepping in. Rest assured, though, that we do discuss things after a set. When the Fab Five were involved, it WAS 1:1. In fact, I know a number of characters who refused to go out on set if they didn't have their own greeter, for safety reasons. Also, at WDW, the greeters are actively involved in forming lines. Many times at DL, I don't see a greeter at all! <img src="images/smiles/icon_eek.gif" alt="Shocked" border="0" /> And from experience, <span style="font-style: italic">those</span> are the times you really get into trouble.
