Poor Iago did take a lot of hits . I kind of did feel sorry for him since Jafar always pushed him around, but when he started shoving crackers down poor Sultan's throat my sympathy dissolved XD. I know he did it first, but aww..I just wanted to give him a hug  I guess Iago's just a really lucky bird..
I'd say it was a stone door, but the Sultan seems to open the door easily enough right before everyone barges in, so it might not be as heavy as it seems.
But still, most people would be rather seriously injuried by a door slamming on them like that, let alone a stone door, let alone a bird surviving that.
Adding to that, Iago actually gets crushed by two doors - the first one being when Jafar shuts the door to his tower on him.

The door should have broken
Jafar
, let alone Iago. The best possibility is, of course, that it's a wooden door, but even if it was, it'd be a very thick piece of wood, because you'd need a thick piece of wood to carve the decorations. Never mind that it could just as easily be a stone door, because wood was rarer than stone (and the palace does seem to have a lot of stone and very little wood.) So you're looking at several hundred pounds to a ton or more of masonry or wood crashing into 100 pounds of sorcerer and 4 pounds of parrot. I'd say they both have a few extra lives stockpiled if all that gives them is a few ruffled feathers.

Post subject: How many lives does Iago have?
To be honest I'm quite surprised he lived through the first movie. I mean, he got squashed by the door, crashed against a pillar, kicked by Jafar, then got stuck in that wheel when creating that storm. Iago must have more lives than a cat to have survived the first movie!
