To let him (and the audience) know who's in charge now after getting the lamp. Genie thought Aladdin was summoning him, but was surprised to see a "tall, dark, and sinister, ugly man" standing there instead. Yanking him around a bit and throwing him to the ground is an extension of his dominance of the situation now. "I am your master now"/"I was afraid of that."
Post subject: Why does Jafar do this?
When Jafar releases Genie for the lamp, why does he then proceed to throw him to the ground and plant his foot on Genie's face? Towards the end he nearly flatens his face.. I guess it's for being called a 'tall, dark, and sinister, ugly man'. That, or maybe it was just to hold him down? I know this is kinda a silly topic, but has any one else been confused by this? It's almost just thrown in randomly.. like he didn't need to do it.
