Sounds cool.

I've been toying with my version of an obscure Scottish ballad (well, obscure in the US, anyway.) Mine takes place in 1950's Ireland.

Sounds potentially interesting. S'long as you don't intend to Shrekify it (IE, pop culture references et al), it could work out quite well, I think.

Wow, I'm lovin it already, and I haven't read any of the actual stuff! I like how u've taken elements and truths from the actual stories and made the plot your own, I really like that, I hate it when people jsut borrow and combine stories without any substance of their own, so well done here! Can't wait to find out more!

Hey, everybody, I'm kind of working on a novel project that I hope to one day publish. It began as an assignment for my high school creative writing class (write your own fractured fairy tale), but I started expanding it into a full length novel. I ended up fracturing three fairy tales and combined it with an original plotline of my own. I'm not even close to being finished with it, but here is the plot so far:

It begins with a fractured version of "Beauty and the Beast" in which the Beast, whose real name is Tom, cannot win the affections of the lovely yet vain and shallow Beauty. He gets so desperate that he leaves her to team up with Agatha Winthrop, a disgraced fairy godmother that hasn't had a single case since Cinderella left Prince Charming for the gardener. She takes him in as her apprentice. Later, they manage to save an unfortunate mermaid named Neri from a sea-hag after her human prince marries another woman (like in the original Hans Christian Anderson story). The three of them become close, and Tom, even though he's still a beast, is content with his new life. Then, the three of them finally recieve a case to save a princess that's been turned to stone (along with her whole kingdom) by a lustful warlock. And in an interesting twist, Tom, before he was turned into a beast, was formerly betrothed to the princess...

Well, what do you think? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Very Happy
