I just got the special edition cd the other day and have enjoyed listening to this song, but it's left me a little confused. I know it would have appeared in the version where Aladdin had Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, but what part of the film would it have occured during? The final battle? Also, does anyone have the words to the song that tell who is singing what? I really like the song - the music would have been awesome with the full orchestra - it's a shame they didn't take the song and use it as score for the movie.
Thanks. _________________

I think it sounds like the middle. Maybe they were all supposed to go after the lamp? _________________ You can never have too much Baklava.

Or maybe when they go after Jafar.
I don't know. Can you say "Major Rewrites"? _________________

In that version there was still a genie of the lamp and a genie of the ring, like in the original story. Jafar stole the lamp, but Aladdin still had the ring, and this was the song for the fight scene at the end. Beyond that I have no idea what's going on. I have the lyrics, but it doesn't mention which character is supposed to be singing what. The fact that you have two people doing all the voices doesn't help much. _________________ "If only I could believe you. Perhaps I can! After all... you do bear the name of a flower." -- Arbutus |

Ok, that makes the song make more sense.

Yeah, that's all I've been able to find too. My sister's and I were trying to figure out who was who last night, but I think we confused ourselves more than figure anything out. _________________

It's a shame this song didn't make it into the final movie. In my personal opinion, most of the cut songs could have been slightly adjusted to fit into a completely different film if Disney wanted to, but apparently they don't want to... |

Well, if one Genie was evil and another was good, maybe that's some indication. I can't even tell what's supposed to be Aladdin and/or his friends, so don't ask me. _________________ You can never have too much Baklava.

The genie of the lamp wasn't evil, but the lamp was stolen by Jafar and he had to obey him. _________________ "If only I could believe you. Perhaps I can! After all... you do bear the name of a flower." -- Arbutus |

No, in the original version...oh. Maybe you're right. I could have sworn one was going to be evil, though. _________________ You can never have too much Baklava.

They weren't evil, or ecstatically happy. They were just...there. They had to obey to whoever had the lamp.
Maybe you are thinking he is evil because of how he basically chewed Aladdin out for asking him to bring the egg of a roc, and that was something he couldn't do because that's like his God..or something like that. It's been a few months since I read that story. |

Where can I read this story? In 1001 Arabian Nights? _________________

You mean the entire book the Arabian Nights, or just the story of Aladdin? And even then, do you want to one with the really archaic writing, or with a slightly better translation of it? |
