On a somewhat related note, I personally would think Aladdin would better be prepared to serve as future Sultan having lived for the series' duration in the palace 24/7, instead of just jumping right in right after tying the knot with Jasmine, and having to learn a lot more. |
They seemed to kind of hint he was picking it up little by little as he got more comfortable. They felt confident enough in him to leave him in charge of the palace (and what I guess is the city, which is weird. I thought they would have had someone else for that, but maybe they didn't want anymore help after Jafar ), but I would have liked to see more of that preparation. He probably got to learn more when he became a prince.

I just watched the night of the living mud episode, the one in which the al-muddi is running around the palace, and Genie attempts to not get Aladdin and Jasmine involved so they can have some alone time. Anyway, there's a scene where Aladdin and Jasmine go away together, and later come out of the same room with different outfits on.
I was like wtf? That to me almost made it seemed like an implication of some horseplay, lol. It also makes me wonder what the creators were or were not thinking when animating the events in that sequence. |
And that's assuming he went home to change and didn't have clothes at the palace. Seriously, Aladdin, just stay there |

I'm feeling a little dense asking this AG, but when you said "He probably got to learn more when he became a prince," are you referring to after Aladdin and Jasmine tied the knot, and before Aladdin ascended the throne? |

The way I see it is when Aladdin and Jasmine became engaged, that's all that happened. They were engaged. She was still the princess and he was just her boyfriend. No one gives Aladdin any type of royal treatment or address him with any type of titles when they go anywhere, so that says to me he doesn't have the status yet.
After they get married, however, I think he became a prince. Disney seems to go along with that as a lot of the books and even some merchandise states as much. I don't think he becomes sultan until after the current one dies or steps down, so when I said I think "he probably got to learn more when he became a prince," I meant once he officially becomes part of the family, he has more open to him and thus he gets to learn more. I don't think the sultan or Jasmine has excluded him from much when it comes to the workings of military operations or royal affairs when they can help it, but now it'll be a mandatory thing instead of a come and go as you please situation. He was offered the job of royal vizier, which is ridiculous, but he probably should have taken it as it would have helped in the long run . He's always helped out, though, as if he was one so it wouldn't be too big of a change. |
