What have I gotten to hear about? Glad you asked - I'll tell you.
1 - You're obsessed with Aladdin
2 - You're obsessed with the internet
3 - Don't make friends on the internet, those people are crazy - make friends at school or at church. You "don't know them."
4 - Don't let the internet affect your schooling or sleep
My responses
1 - About time you noticed
2 - Well if I had gotten access to the tv, I wouldn't have turned to the internet as a source of entertainment. What do you want me to do? Sit around and do nothing? I think not - I need mental stimulation. And I am socializing - which should make them happy, considering how introverted I am.
3 - I know everyone at church and have known them for years - no sudden friendships are going to blossom there. And school is different -everyone is looking out for themself - you don't even make the acquaintances like you do in hs. And my dad should know that as well as I do - he went to my school. And I'm on the internet, so not all people on there are crazy. Ok, so I'm not the best example. Seriously though - it's the only place that I have any real companionship. And some of you I think I "do know" even if we've never met.
4 - I'm an adult - I should be able to go to bed when I please. They've NEVER made me go to bed early - why now? And the schooling - I know I'm doomed for failure here. I somehow got all A's last semester. Don't ask - I didn't do that well in hs - I'm still shocked. So, no matter what happens (b/c all A's this semester is impossible), my grades "will have slipped." I just have the feeling that there's going to be issues with that come the end of this semester, even though I'll have A's and B's and maybe one C in Global Issues - a class that I have struggled with. _________________

They pictures are for our current mental state. Mine says "..whaaa?" because I am confused about a math problem *nods*
..this is so not working
And how hard can Global issues be? Just put "We are all doomed" on your tests and that should count
I had to go through most of those. It wasn't so much geared towards Aladdin, but it was more cartoons in general. "You watch cartoons too much. Teenagers don't watch cartoons" If only they knew Aladdin is real
I still go through the "You're obsessed with the internet" thing sometimes. I'm not obsessed with the internet, I'm obsessed with Aladdin. Yeesh, get it right I spend a lot of time on the computer because I have nothing else to do with my life in which they have so graciously set up.
The friend one bugged them for a while, too, but now I do whatever I want. I know exactly who I am talking to. I send presents and cards during holidays and special occassions and I've even talked to a few on the phone, and it's the same way around. That whole internet stalking thing isn't as bad as the media makes it out to be.
My sleep is weird as it is, so poo on that. And it'll never effect my schooling because most of my schooling is art. So if I'm on the computer so long that I can't remember how to draw, then they can worry |

1. no kidding my mom ad aunt have given up on trying to get me un obsessed
2. i know im obsessed with th internet and i've been told to get of countless times and i never do just to see how long i can hold out but today my mom and i were arguing oer grades and she was pressing the internet issue and i got so mad thateventually she said i can manage my internet time and left it at that so my basic question was (in my mind that is) "umm...did hell freeze over or somthing?" but hey im not complaining
3. well for me i dont go to church, i dont have really any friends to talk to t school i just have friends in class but none outside of that. true jas may not be the greatest example of sanity but she's one of my best friends and no one can change that so there. no one can make me leave unless i do by choice and thats not ever going to happen
4. to late for me sure my sleeping deals totally out of whack but the rades are really bad this year and while some family issues that have been going on for about 2 years might contrbute to it i also need to focus in study more but im doing better before these grades my mom saw came out 2 grades she saw are already back to C's
all in all jas dont worry about your dad finding ot bout the messagebard. yur an adult and should be able to make your own desicions. i on the other hand have to fight the issue more because of my age *grumbles* 3 more years then pphfft im outta here ....but knowing them im gonna have o move with them to NC and as far as the make friends issue goes *waves* im here and we've talked to eachother before even if it was a suprise conversation and in the next few years we might even meet so we wont be stangers sooner or later so dont worry about it at all _________________

1. The first time I was obsessed with Iago, I was 12 and my parents accepted it a little. They would make fun of it, but they'd also watch the series with me. Then I became re-obsessed when I was 15, and my parents got really mean and even made me cry once. After a month, I had found a 24-year-old Aladdin fan and became friends with her, and from that time on, my parents realized they couldn't do anything about my obsession. They still use it as an argument when they're angry at me, but we all know I don't care anymore. And the fact that my mum gave me the Iago plushie for my birthday shows that she's given up on it.
2. My mum has no room to talk here, since she's working at the computer all day. My dad fusses about me sitting at the computer all the time, but he doesn't do more, so I'm fine. I do feel a little guilty, but I just don't know what else to do. The TV only shows crap, and what can I do outside? Drive up and down the road with my bicycle? How exciting.
3. It's a good thing that my mum loves the Internet as much as I do. She's warned me about crazy people on the Internet, but she also knows that you can find friends there. And I do have friends in the real world, they are just not that close, I don't spend much time with them outside school.
4. As long as my school work and health don't suffer from it, I can use the Internet as long as I want. Should I ever do too much, my mum can just cut my Internet connection, and I surely don't want that to happen, so I obey the rules. And since I'm pretty ambitious and care for my grades, I won't let the Internet affect them anyway. About the sleeping deal, I think I really pushed it a little too far during last vacations in February, with staying up till 3am and all. I'm trying to get better.
Jas - I know it's hard, but try to just don't care for what they say. You're an adult, you have the right to decide for yourself what to do and what not to do. I, for one, have found a lot of people on the Internet who agree with me about the points we just talked about, so I don't need my parents to agree with me anymore. _________________

nessa- you feel a little guilty about being on the internet? personally i say do what you have to do and get on with your life. less stress on yourself that way. at least thats how i see it.
my parents have basicaly given up but i was told we were gonna have a talk later so im sure that will be fun fun fun i just like to make my own desicions when i want because people tlling me what to do and all drives me nuts. *theme song as on noe is im looking out for me* _________________

I don't feel guitly about being on the Internet, I feel guilty about not going out and do something else, work out a bit. I'm a little overweight, and I'm afraid it'll affect my health on the long run. But as I said, I just don't know what else to do. It's all so boring here.
And I see it that way: You get the least stress if you try to do what you have to do, but not be too stubborn. You know, keep a balance between just being yourself and giving in sometimes. And it's not like the others are always wrong. It does help to listen and find compromises.
I know, I know, I fight too less for myself, not stand up against others, yada yada yada. I'm just a peace-loving person. _________________

I wonder why you are overweight when you do so much sports? I thought water polo and swimming are rather exhausting and help losing weight. I don't know if it would make any difference if I started riding my bicycle more or something, but I'm still worried.
Yeah, of course it also depends on the people around you. If you try to keep peace, but they just don't understand it and keep bugging you, then I guess there's no other way than to fight. _________________

Ahh, I see. I also actually don't eat that much, that's why I don't gain weight. But to lose it, I'd have to work out.
Good luck! _________________

That's the same with me. I told someone how much I weigh, and they went "Are you serious? You don't look like it." I was so suprised, I thought one can tell that I weigh much.
Oh, I'm sorry. And I know how it feels - thank god I've got my own room, so I am alone most of the time. _________________

I understand you. Not attract too much attention to it, huh? But I hate to go shopping because nothing I want would fit me. It seems only half-starved, small girls are supposed to wear the nice stuff.
Of course, they only come to you when they need you to do something. Or when they think you should be doing something, although they could do it themselves. _________________
