I'm kind of disappointed it looks like a shot for shot remake and they already cut "Be Prepared" so I'm just kind of like "what's the point?" besides hearing what's some really solid voice casting, but I'm excited to watch everyone else cry over Mufasa dying in HD CGI Laughing Laughing Laughing

I just assumed they were doing the shot-for-shot trailer on purpose.

But yes that does hint that the rest of the movie will be too.

Did not know they cut "Be Prepared."

Voice cast looks on point.

I thought that, too, until I realized none of the other trailers for live-action films have been like that, so I don't know Laughing

Yeah, the Nazi vibes made Disney cut it entirely, so I don't know if he's getting a new song or none at all now.

Those really are solid voice acting choices across the board. I already know Billy Eichner as Timon is going to kill me Laughing

While it looks really nice, I really don't see a point to it. The Lion King still holds up and wasn't in need of a remake.

Oh well, let's hope at least it will be good, even if we already know the story.

Really because of the Nazi thing? It's not like it was being glorified, and it's not like they have to have that imagery go with the song?

I doubt Disney will confirm that's why, but this is the same company that removed the "take off and go" line because people wouldn't stop mishearing it.

That was a very small correction to make, though.

Re: That article: "Tim Price" Rolling Eyes

Also - Yikes @ the writer's film history

But it being directed by the guy who did "The Jungle Book" is at least a good sign?

But it shows Disney is trying to clean up some complaints/concerns people have had over the years about its movies even if the fans think its really ridiculous (trying to gently address that most of their villains are queer-coded in the live-action BATB movie is another one that comes to mind). But like you said it's not like they don't have the power to just NOT do that and no one would miss the original vision for it but who knows?

Laughing omg C+ movies across the board

That did catch my eye in the trailer so that is a good sign, but I don't know if he can take as many liberties with Lion King as he did with the Jungle Book. The latter has been done a dozen times over and needed something fresh. The Lion King is one of those "you don't really need to touch it" films.

Saw a little teaser today, featuring Beyonce's voice. They talk about it here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfCd0M22JFY&list=WL&index=47&t=0s

Kinda looking forward to the new "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." IMO it's the most overrated Disney song, but I'd like to hear it done well. (Also small nerd rant: The commenters in the video say that it isn't sung by the characters in the original, but it's like half sung by characters!!)

I’m seeing this for Beyoncé but I’m infinitely disappointed they cut “Be Prepared.” I didn’t know that and I’m devastated now.

"Can You Feel the Love Tonight" teaser, in case you missed it:

Actually excited for this. I don't hate it, but I always thought this song was overrated - really looking forward to its update!

Got my tix to see it yesterday!

Not too excited about it, but that change to that song sounded quite nice (agree with Meesh on it. It's overrated. Hakuna Matata ftw Laughing )

Might try to see it when I got time, but idk. All these realistic looks kinda turn me off. The CG looks nice, but something just bugs me. Oh yeah, I'm used to the cartoon designs xd

Welp, hope they do a good job with it. Better have a ice movie than a bad one.

Soundtrack is out!!! Just pressed play, so I have no comments yet. The 1:30 I've heard so far sounds great

https://www.npr.org/2019/07/11/740716460/stream-the-lion-king-soundtrack-featuring-beyonce-and-donald-glover

Looks like they kept "Be Prepared" after all! EDIT: Just listened to it and it's very different. Looking forward to how they changed the visuals too!

EDIT: Listening to "Hakuna Matata" - Timon and Pumbaa are pitchy and I'm living for it because no autotune!!!
