They only release 2 characters with every update, so while unfortunate, I get why it happened. Plus the devs knows he's highly requested so we will get him eventually.

Who would he be paired with next update? Iago? Maybe a small reference to their conflict in the show idk |

Welp, we have 3 options in terms of how they might release Genie:
1, Just add him only like they did with Tiana and Daisy last year. I can actually see them going either way given the story details we know.
2, Do what they did with Timon and Pumbaa and let us re-enter the realm to meet him and someone else, either Iago, Abu or even the Sultan (the latter 2 are mentioned and confirmed to be in the realm just fine) as he just returned from his travellings.
3, Expansion where he's either one of the 3 new characters from the beginning, or later be revealed as they conclude the expansion's story.
I'm actually not sure if Iago would be added ever. Last summer we had a survey on what characters people would love to see being added and Iago was nowhere mentioned (Al, Jas and Genie were though) and even Jafar's story kinda concluded with him obviously missing Iago, so we made a Iago memorial for him. The characters are also protrayed pre-Return of Jafar (minus that Jafar is not a genie) status quo.
1 thing I can surely confirm though: we will not get him before fall season. Next updates are pretty much confirmed already with April update being Alice in Wonderland (Chesire Cat is pretty much confirmed with hopefully Alice be added too) and then Skull Rock update in the summer giving us Peter Pan, while for the Storybook Vale expansion we will conclude with Maleficent and Aurora.

Yes, it's part of the starpath rewards actually. I actually uses aladdin's but not Jasmine's (her blue dress just looks better for me).
I will write more about the update once I'm not so tired. Work is a bit rough for me and drains me quite a bit.
